History/Schools: FAIR PARK FADS; Caddo, Louisiana Submitted by Pat Foster King By June Jefferson ********************************************** Copyright. All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Say, have you noticed some of the latest fashions: One of the most popular ones here at Fair Park is belts with matching collars. They are attractive and very appropriate for school wear. They can be worn nicely with skirts and sweaters. Peggy Tilton, Sylvia Middlebrooks and Emma Gene Edmiston may be seen modeling these frocks. Another fashion seen a lot around here is the “middy “ blouse. Shirley Pace, Patsy Coleman, Mignon Sightler, Gayle Jackson and Ann Pickering are a few of the girls who adhere to this new fad. Of course, suede loafers are being worn by almost everyone this year. Both boys and girls are seen wearing them. A few are: Ann Mills, Pat Scott, Shirley Jones, Betty Temple, Margie Garrett, Johnny Papa, Walter Gamel, George Webb and Jimmy Orton. Looks like the “roaring twenties” are coming back in the form of shingled hair. Some of the flappers are: Emaree Haddad, Carla Bain, Ann Strickland, Pat Foster and Barbara Birdwell. Around Fair Park strange things are happening! The collars are going up and the necklines are coming down. Too bad they can’t get together. Some boys are doing their part to exhibit their, uh, masculine physiques by wearing turtle-neck sweaters. Some of the turtles are: Bobby Scriber, Keeth Lane, Edgar Smith, Rene DeHondt, William Kulbeth and James Moss. The Indians are remaining true to their Alma Mater by wearing the traditional moccasins. Jo Ellen Olds, Betty Moss, Glenda Bailey, Sandra Haddad and Dixie Mosley are some of the loyalists. Fair Park Newspaper 1953
