Williams) , Clerk of the District Court, within and for said Parish and State, Mrs. (Sarah J. Rudder) aged ( 65 ) years, a resident of the ( City ) of ( Shreveport ) Parish of ( Caddo ) and State of Louisiana who being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow of ( Benjamin J. Rudder ) , who entered service of the Confederate States during the civil war under the name of ( Benjamin J. Rudder ), at ( Shreveport ) on the ( no entry ) day of ( March) 18(62) in ( Co. A, 6th Regiment Cavalry, Rank Private ) from the state of ( LA ) that he served honorably until ( close of the war ) at ( Shreveport, La ) on the ( June 1865 ); and that he remained true to the Confederate States, until surrender, at which time he was in ( Natchitoches, La. ) ,that she was married to said soldier under the name of ( Sarah J. Grubbs ) on the ( 26 ) day of ( December ) 18( 65 ), by ( Geo. M. Russell ) at ( 7 miles from Shreveport, Louisiana ) that she has not married again, and that she is now in indigent circumstances and unable to earn a livelihood by her own labor or skill, that she is not married or otherwise provided for by the State of Louisiana or by any other State or Government: that her said husband died on the ( 10 ) day of ( January) 1912 at ( Shreveport, Louisiana) , that she has resided in the State of Louisiana for ( 63 ) years next preceding the date of this application, and that she claims the aid and benefit of Article 303 of the Constitution of 1898 and subsequent Acts of the Legislature of the State thereunder as is further shown by her answers to the following questions which she swears to be true and correct: 1. Rudder), private, Denson's Louisiana Cavalry, C. S. A., subsequently Company A, 6th Louisiana Cavalry, was enlisted May 15, --, to serve three years. His name appears on a roll of the company for the months of September and October, 1862 (last on file), without remark as to presence or absence. The Union records show him as of Company D of that regiment, surrendered at New Orleans, Louisiana, May 26, 1865, and paroled at Shreveport, Louisiana, June 17, 1865. The name B. J.
