     Obituary - The Shreveport Journal, February 7, 1938, Funeral Rites for Oscar Alfred
will be held Monday.  Funeral services for Oscar Alfred, 69, planter, of Bethany, who died at his home 
at 11:20 a. m., Sunday, were to be held Monday at 2 p. m. at the Providence Baptist
Church, with the Rev. E. E. Smith and Rev. W. F. Nash officiating.  Interment will be in 
the Providence Cemetery near Spring Ridge, under the direction of the Osborn Funeral
Home.
     Mr. Alfred is survivied by his wife; two sons, S. G. Alfred, Bethany and O. D. Alfred, Shreveport; one daughter 
Mrs. M. W. Ellis, Bethany; four brothers, Joe, Glen, Warren, and the Reb. T. S. Alfred; one sister
Betty Alfred; and five grandchildren.
     Active pallbearers will be Fred, Griffen, Marvis, Norman, Martel, Lake, Ralph, and Jack Alexander,
all nephews of Mr. Alfred.  Honorary pallbearers will be Will Birmingham, J. H. Sisco, Klebe Brumble, Nash Shadowens,
Squibb LaGrone, the Rev. W. F. Nash, C. E. McMullen, Clay Lambert, Allen Gullep, Jim Williams,
