Mrs. Susie Alfred, one of the best beloved and most highly esteemed ladies of this city, died yesterday morning at her home on Pierre Avenue, at 12:45 o'clock. Mrs. Alfred had reached the advanced age of seventy-six years, and had been a consistent member of the Baptist church for the past fifty years, having united with the Bethany Church which is near Providence, in 1861. After the death of her husband, she remained at their home at Providence for four years, then she removed to Shreveport, where she has sinced lived. Mrs. Alfed is survived by six children, five boys and one girl, they being Joe, Glenn, Oscar James and Miss Bettie, all of Shreveport, and Rev. Gus Alfred of Lampasses, Texas. The funeral was held at 4 o'clock Tuesday evening at the residence, conducted by Rev. A. D. Kendricks of the Parkview Baptist Church. The remains will be forwarded to Providence early this morning, where interment will take place this afternoon.
