The friends and acquaintances of the family are invited to attend the funeral this afternoon at half-past 4 o'clock, from his late residence on Travis Street. [Shreveport Times, April 3, 1873] Col. Battle's Death - Col. Henry John Gray Battle, resident of this city for more than thirty years. Pioneer of the present North Louisiana, and died in the harness, being at the time of his death, the senior proprietor of this paper. (Long tribute to him but very little genealogical data.)
