Bowman, Born December 4, 1921, in Shattuck, Ok, passed away at his home September 18, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Pirrie Bowman, III and Judith Porter Bowman. Gene is survived by Jimmie Jean Pate Bowman, his wife of 63 years. In WWII he served in the Army Medical Corps at Pine Bluff AR. Arsenal and the 240th General Hospital, Nancy, France. After retiring from Riley-Beaird in 1984, Gene developed a talent for oil painting and generously shared scenery and portraits with friends and family. A long-time resident of Shreveport, Gene was a member of Andrew Class of Brookwood Baptist Church, Brookwood Painting Partners, American Legion Post, #0401, Turnbull Clan Association, The Sons and Daughters of the Province and Republic of West Florida 1763-1810, and is a direct descendant of Louisiana Pioneer Families of Bowman-Turnbull, and Filhiol - Muse. Visitation with the family will be at 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Friday September 21, 2007 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel with a brief service following visitation. Officiating will be Rev. John Harp. Interment will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 24, 2007 in IOOF Cemetery in Ponca City, OK. Our sincere appreciation and love for the Odyssey Hospice staff and our many friends.
