Bingham, Jr. Published on 09/16/2000 The Times--Shreveport, LA HOUSTON, TX - William A. "Bill" Bingham, Jr., 62, of Houston, Texas, passed from this life September 14, 2000. Preceded in death by his father, mother and sister. He was a resident of the Pasadena and Houston area for 58 years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 10 years and was a member of Champion Forest Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Bonnie Bingham; daughters, Cheryle Williams, Dondra Armitage and husband, Steve and Shannon Humphrey; grandsons, Chad Smotek, Taylor Humphrey and Alex Cooksey; dear friends, Sonny and Jane Walston; and numerous other relatives and friends. Prestridge Published on 09/16/2000 The Times--Shreveport, LA SHREVEPORT, LA - Vergie May Mahaffey Prestridge was born September 14, 1897, in Harrisville, Mississippi. She grew up near Mendenhall, graduating from Simpson County Agricultural High School. Mrs. Prestridge died on her 103rd birthday, September 14, 2000, at Christus Schumpert-Highland Hospital and will be buried in the family plot in the Olla Cemetery. She has resided in Shreveport since 1974. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Gould Prestridge in 1945; her daughter, Katie Lou (Kathy) DeVilbiss in 1990, and her son, James Emerson (Bud) Prestridge in 1956, and all 13 of her brothers, and sisters as well as her parents, Robert and Rose Mahaffey. She is survived by her three grandchildren, Mavis Richardel and her husband Lee, Mark Jay DeVilbiss and his wife Deirdre, Roger S. DeVilbiss and his wife Lee, son-in-law, Charles J. DeVilbiss, Glenda and Earl Bourgeois; there are eight great-grandchildren Jane, Kristen, William, Jason, and John DeVilbiss; Peter and Paul Richardel; Laura Thomson, and one great-great-granddaughter, Allison Lynn Thomson. She has been loved and nurtured by two very close friends, Susan Bowles and Martha Prudhome. The family recognizes them for their care and concern over a long period of time. The family thanks Dr. W. Melton Prothro. Visitation will be at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home today from 12 p.m. until service time. She entered into rest on Thursday, September 14, 2000 at the Willis Knighton Hospital in Bossier City. Mrs. Harnage was a native of Union Springs, LA and resided in Haughton, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Harnage. She was the loving mother and grandmother of daughter, Jo Anne Aaron of Rowlett, TX; son, Mike Harnage and wife Tuna of Baton Rouge, LA; and grandchildren, Jennifer Elaine Aaron, Joseph Michael Harnage and wife Fawnn and Jessica Anne Harnage. She is also survived by her sisters, Laura Jackson and husband, Bobby of Shreveport, LA and Ethelene Crittenden of Many, LA. Pallbearers will be friends and family members of Mrs. Harnage. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Goins. Interment will follow in Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Avenue. Funeral home visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, September 17, 2000. Earl, Jr., passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday morning, September 15, 2000 at his home. He died after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Baremore was born August 28, 1935 in Shreveport, LA. He graduated from C. E. Byrd High School in 1953 and graduated from LSU-Baton Rouge in 1958. He has been a long time alumni supporter of both schools. After college, he served time in the United States Army. Following his service, he was the Operations Manager of the family owned trucking business, Pelican Trucking Company. His most proud accomplishments were while he was director of the Louisiana State Exhibit Building. During his time there, he developed several educational programs including Auntie Tilde, Charlie Bob and the Greening of The Trees. Earl, Jr. loved hunting and fishing with his many friends in Louisiana and especially in South Texas. He was grateful for the opportunities for comradely with those who know who they are. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Earl, Sr. and Mattie Saint Baremore; and his younger brother, Tommy Mac Baremore. Earl, Jr. is survived by his wife of 28 years, Carol Cook Baremore; daughters, Brandy Ann McIntyre and her husband, Michael and Katherine Hubbard and her husband, Gentry of Dallas, TX; and the love of his life, his grandson, Morgan Gentry Hubbard. He is also survived by his dear friend, Jack M. Johnston of Denver, CO. Pallbearers for the service will be J. Greg Bradley, J. Harmon Chandler, Donald W. Crow, Sidney K. Herold, Guy B. LeGendre and Gene B. Head of Houston, TX. Honorary pallbearer will be Jerry P. Colvin of Augusta, MI. Ms. Scott, a native of Reisor, LA, was a faithful member of Little Union Baptist Church and the Adult Class for many years. She was a lifetime member of the YWCA and a founding member of Delta Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She was also an active participant in many other civic and community associations and organizations. Ms. Scott taught in the Caddo Parish School System for many years retiring in 1968. Survivors are several cousins including four special cousins, Marjorie Gipson and Alzada Richardson of Detroit, MI, Eugene Coleman of Los Angeles, CA and Earlean Mullen of Shreveport; other relatives and special friends.
