Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a Chapel service at 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 5, 2000 at Wellman's Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Cemetery in Shreveport. Doris was born in her parent's home at 2830 Darien St. in Shreveport, the first baby born in 1927, on January 1st. That day, her birth made the front page of the newspaper, the same paper that Doris would later work at for over 30 years, the very paper you are reading today. Her father, Edgar B. Davis, Sr. and her brother, Edgar Jr. (Ned) were also lifelong employees of the paper. With the help of her family, God's good grace, and a lot of hard work, Doris raised three children, daughter Patricia Baird, and sons, Kevin Clark (deceased) and Brian Clark; she leaves four grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren as well. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and a dear friend, with a smile and a helping hand for everyone. Doris was truly a one of a kind person, with a zest for life and an enormous amount of love in her heart. She will be sorely missed, but is surely in a much better place. I know she would like to acknowledge the many friends she made at work; those days, and her co-workers, were most special to her. Pallbearers will be Donald Clark, Lucky Busby, Enos Baird, Brian Martini, Chris Boyett and William Duncan, Jr. Her family would like to extend special thanks to IHS Pierremont Nursing Home and employees, and Hospice of Shreveport, for making Doris' last days here so much better. ************************************************************ The Times - Shreveport, LA - Published on 09/02/2000 Anna Mary Merlak McClellan SHREVEPORT, LA - Graveside services for Anna Mary Merlak McClellan will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, September 2, 2000 at Forest Park, St. Vincent Avenue.
