Visitation will be held at Osborn Funeral Home on Monday, September 11, 2000 from 6 until 8 p.m. Family graveside services will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12th at Forest Park Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Robert R. Laha, Jr., assisted by Rev. Bryan McDowell officiating. Mrs. Black was born January 28, 1931 in Bristow, OK. As a member of First Presbyterian Church, she was Deacon, Life member of Presbyterian Women where she was a past Moderator and Circle Chairman, past-president and member of Harris McClamroch Sunday School Class, taught Vacation Bible School as a young mother and grandmother, worked faithfully as a library volunteer and was a former Sunday School teacher and choir member. She was a member and leader of BSF for the past 8 years, past-president of Shreveport Geological Auxiliary and former president of PTA at Arthur Circle Elementary (twice) and Captain Shreve High School. Janie loved traveling around the world and going to OU football games with her husband, loved to cook and sew for her family and play bridge with her friends. Her faith and devotion to God, family and friends was an incredible witness to all who knew her. Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Coulter Newberry. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, James C. Black; father, Wilson H. Newberry; three children, Criss Black Stagg and her husband, Gerald A. Stagg, J. Douglas Black and Melinda Black Dorsett and her husband, Newton W. Dorsett; six grandchildren, Hayden, Joshua and Sarah Grace Stagg, and Hannah, Helen and Hope Dorsett; two sisters, Mary Helen Maul and Margie McFadden. The family requests that memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church or Bible Study Fellowship in lieu of flowers. Waters SHREVEPORT, LA - Services for Mr. John D. Waters, 79, will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, September 14, 2000 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery near Ringgold, LA. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 13, 2000 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Waters died Friday, September 8, 2000 in Shreveport. He was born in Red River Parish, LA and had resided in Shreveport, LA for 50 years. Mr. Waters was a carpenter for over 50 years and a veteran of the U. S. Army for four years during WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ada Waters; his sister, Lucille Waters Woodard; brothers, Floyd Benton Waters and Clifford Donald Waters. Survivors include his wife, Mavis Louise Waters of Shreveport, LA; one brother, Jessie Golden Waters of Blanchard, LA; two step-son, Charles Wayne Ford and William Glynn Ford; and a host of nieces and nephews. Officiating will be Rev. Crawford Williams, assisted by Rev. Dennis Reliford. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, September 12, 2000 at the funeral home. Mr. Bozeman was born in Longstreet, LA and had resided in Shreveport for over 60 years. He was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He is survived by his wife, Jennie Elliott Bozeman of Shreveport, LA; daughter, Linda Bozeman Hambrick of Richmond, VA; three sons, Larry Bozeman of Hobbs, NM, Gary Bozeman of Belleville, IL and Paul Bozeman of College Station, TX; thirteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Merva Sinclair of Carthage, TX; and three brothers, James Conway Bozeman of Shreveport, LA; Cecil Rudolph Bozeman of Tyler, TX and Karl D.
