Family and friends gathered together to honor and give thanks to the head of our family. Walter worked for 37 years for Rockwell Allison (formerly Shreveport Armature). He was a Marine veteran of WWII and a member of the American Legion. His life was spent caring and providing for his family. He was respected and loved by all. He was preceded in death by his eight brothers and sisters, and his son, Richard Jon and his daughter-in-law, Pamela Ann. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Marjorie Elaine Rogers Baudry; son, Micheal of Alexandria; daughters, Pegi Baudry of Alexandria and Michelle Posey of Shreveport; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. No services will be held. Memorials can be made to the charity of choice. The family wishes to give special thanks to the staff of Willis Knighton Hospice, to Nurses Diane and Richard, Dr. Ray D. Johnston, Sr., 72, of Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Crawford Williams. Visitation will be at Centuries Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Rev. Johnston moved from the Grace Home to his heavenly home on Monday, September 18, 2000. He was born in Anchorage, KY and has lived in Shreveport for the last 10 years since his retirement from the International Mission Board. Rev. Johnston and his wife, Marie served for 32 years in Nigeria, West Africa. While in Africa, Rev. Johnston was involved in church development, taught at the seminary, and served as a hospital Business Manager. Prior to serving overseas, Rev. Johnston pastored the First Baptist Church of Floral City, Florida. While in Shreveport Rev. Johnston served as Director of the Northwest Baptist Association's Brotherhood, he was also the coordinator of the World Changers Program its first year in Shreveport. Rev. Johnston is survived by his loving wife and co-worker of 45 years, Marie H. Johnston; one daughter, Patricia Widener and husband Kyle of Shreveport, LA; one son, James David Johnston, Jr. and wife Betty of Longview, TX; two sisters, Ruth Kauffman of Dade City, FL, and Eunice Berry of Ormond Beach, FL; one brother, Ira J. Johnston and wife, Ann of Ormond Beach, FL; six grandchildren, Kathy, Anita, Lucy and James Widener; and Kimberly and Michael Johnston. Officiating will be Rev. Donny Ladotta, pastor of Morningside Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Summer Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Pace passed away Sunday, September 17, 2000 at Willis-Knighton South after a short illness. She was born in Keithville, LA on February 21, 1920. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandma, and great-grandma. She was preceded in death by her husband, "J.D." Pace; four brothers and a sister. Mrs. Pace is survived by a son, Loyed Pace; daughters, Mary Pace, Ruth DeMarco and husband, Robert DeMarco; Frances Moseley and six grandchildren, Scott DeMarco, Michelle Phillips and husband, Craig, Jennifer Pace, Jamie Pace, Josh DeMarco and Sara Moseley; two great-grandchildren, Lorissa and Kirby Phillips. She is also survived by one brother, Claude King; one sister, Marion Allison and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Rose-Neath Funeral Home Southside Chapel, 687-1526 ************************************************************* David Jackson Stell Published on 09/19/2000 The Times--Shreveport, LA SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for David Jackson Stell, 92, will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2000 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Marshall Street Chapel, Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Shreveport, Louisiana. Funeral home visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, September 19, 2000. Mr. Stell passed away Sunday, September 17, 2000 in Christus Schumpert Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana from a heart attack. Mr. Stell was born April 10, 1908 in Shreveport, Louisiana and was a lifelong resident. He was the youngest son of William Henry Stell and Rosa Sorkin Stell, by whom he was predeceased. Mr. Stell was educated in the early public school system in Shreveport. After graduation, David went to work as a medical technologist with the Louisiana State Health Laboratory Department in Franklin, Louisiana. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the U. S. Army Reserves in 1929 and was activated to duty in 1941 where he worked as a laboratory officer in the Army Hospital in Fort Still, Oklahoma. In 1943, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and sent to Calcutta, India. In India, Captain Stell was promoted to commander of the Malaria Control Unit for U. S. military installations in India. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his work with malaria control in India. He was sent back to the U. S. in 1945 and was promoted to the rank of Lt. Colonel. Back in the United States, Mr. Stell returned to work in the Louisiana State Health Department as a medical technologist. He was the first among local technologists that were registered with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. He retired from the U. S. Army Reserves in 1960 and from the Louisiana State Health Department in 1974. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Frances White Stell. He is survived by his nephew, Jay L.
