Officiating will be Rev. Mike Stowell, pastor of First Baptist Church of Keithville, LA. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Shiloh Cemetery, Texarkana, AR. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday, February 17, 2000 at the funeral home. Mr. Bussell died Tuesday, February 15, 2000. He was born in Barton, AR and had resided in Keithville, LA for 41 years. Mr. Bussell was a member of the First Baptist Church of Keithville, LA. He was owner of B & B Chemical and was a member of the Louisiana Pest Control Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Martha Bussell. Survivors are his wife, Barbara Bussell of Keithville, LA; daughters, Karon Dickerson of Poplar Grove, AR, Kandi Lopez and husband, Gary of Shreveport, LA, Martha Bussell of Keithville, LA; adopted daughter, Becky Malone of Shreveport, LA; two brothers, David Bussell and wife, Delores, Robert Bussell and wife, Candy, all of Shreveport, LA; uncle, Sam Bussell and wife, Mary of West Helena, AR; two nieces, Lisa Janes and Meghan Cole; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Ernest was 85 and died after a brief illness at WK Pierremont Hospital. Ernest was born in 1914 in Pleasant Hills, LA to Laura Ann Miller Brown and Howard Stanford Brown. He has resided in Shreveport, LA for more than 50 years. A member of Broadcast Music Institute, Ernest was a published gospel songwriter, writing such songs as ``God's Holy Bible'' and ``Jesus Was Crucified''. He has entertained many friends and family members over the years with his gospel songs, harmonica playing and religious conversations. Family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday February 17 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Wellman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel at Wellman on Friday February 18, 2000 at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Lester Howard Brown and sister, Chattie L.V. Taglavore. He is survived by brother, Vollie H. Brown and wife Ada; sister, Evelyn V. Hyde and husband Vernon all of Shreveport, LA; and sister, Helen B. Nichols and husband Leo of Bethany, TX; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Mrs. Layman was a resident of this area and was retired after 23 years of service at Willis Knighton Medical Center. She passed away at 1:10 a.m. on February 15, 2000 after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her husband, Evangelist J.C. Layman; one son, Clifton Layman of Shreveport; one daughter, Sharlan Wardlaw and husband James of Longview, Texas; two grandsons, Sean Hart and wife Denise of Gilmer, Texas and Darin Hart and wife Barbie of San Diego, California; three great grandchildren; one sister, Francille Collins and husband Paul of Spiro, Oklahoma; and two brothers, J.B. Blaylock and wife Mary of Las Vegas, Nevada and Chad Blaylock and wife Sally of St. Regis, Montana.
