Officiating will be Rev. Sonny Simpson, pastor of Willow Point Baptist Church. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave. Funeral home visitation will be 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Sunday, October 8, 2000. Mrs. McFarland, a retired music teacher and homemaker, died Thursday, October 5, 2000 in Shreveport, LA after a lengthy illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Shreveport, LA. Mrs. McFarland was a member of Willow Point Baptist Church. Margie attended local schools and graduated from Centenary College with a degree in music. She taught music in Franklin Parish, LA Schools and private voice and piano in Shreveport, LA. Mrs. McFarland studied at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA and taught at New Orleans Conservatory of Music at Loyola University. Margie had a love for square and round dancing which she was active in for over 20 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Effie Hine Stephenson; brothers, Lt. Col. J.D. Stephenson and Jasper Vernon Stephenson; and sister, Esther Lee Austin. Survivors are her husband of 54 years, Dr. Harry Gayer McFarland, Sr. of Shreveport, LA; son, Gayer McFarland, Jr. and his wife, Paula Bassett McFarland of Dallas, TX; daughters, Sharon McFarland of Shreveport, LA and Jan Redwitz and her husband, Bob of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Gayer, III and Krysta McFarland, Brandi Joy and Brittany Redwitz; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Murdock Horn, Morris Rankin, Dr. Milton Carlton, Walter Rutherford, Marvin White and Paul Nies. John was a native of Palestine, TX and a resident of Shreveport. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ethan Ducat. Survivors are his wife, Nicki Dees Ferguson; mother, Marilyn Wacha and husband Fred of Palestine, TX; father, Phil Ferguson and wife Joan of Mexia, TX; brothers, Douglas Ferguson and wife Dustin of Shreveport and Richard Ducat of Palestine; sisters, Laura Ferguson and friend Debbie Alexander, and Julie Raines and husband David of Frierson, LA; nieces, Erin Raines, Jehnna Alexander and Brittany Ducat; nephews, Dawson Ferguson and Mike Raines. Smith, Jr. Published on 10/08/2000 SHREVEPORT, LA - Mr. Herbert L. Smith, Jr., 77, died on Tuesday, October 3, 2000 at the Live Oak Retirement Center where he had been a resident since 1994. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2000 at Forest Park Cemetery. Officiating will be The Rev. Canon Jane W. B. Alexander, Canon Pastor of St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral. Mr. Smith was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral. He was a Fellow in the American Institute of Architecture. He was the editor of the "Architectural Record" a professional magazine for architects for over 40 years and was the originator and editor-in-chief of "Record Houses" published annually by the "Architectural Record". He retired from McGraw-Hill of New York City as Magazine editor. Mr. Smith commanded a LSI modified for rocket launching during WWII. After the Japanese surrendered he brought the ship back to the East Coast for decommissioning through the Panama Canal. His parents, Herbert Leary Smith and Azema DeMaret Rountree Smith preceded Mr. Smith in death. He is survived by cousins, Lou and Charlie LoConte and Frank and Quay Griffith, all of Minden, and Joe Rountree of Shreveport. Ingram, of Haughton, LA, died October 5, 2000 at Summit Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born in Ada, OK on November 8, 1911 and moved to Shreveport at the age of three. He lived there until 1999 then moved to Haughton. He was a graduate of C. E. Byrd High School and joined the U.S. Army during WWII and was involved in the invasion of Iwo Jima. He retired from Barksdale AFB after 30 years of service and continued working for Bobby L. Greene Plumbing. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rites. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Clara Ingram of Shreveport; loving wife, Vernell; brother, George; and sisters, Katherine Lorance, Laurie Clay and Louise Rockhold. He is survived by sons, Jerry Mosley and wife, Mary Alice of Bossier City, John F. Ingram and wife, Janet of Haughton; daughters, Marcia Scott and husband, Wade of Arlington, TX and Margaret Brewster and husband, Anthony of Haughton; two sisters, Anita Davis and Julia Capps and her husband, Bill; one brother, Phillip Ingram and his wife Dorothy. He also leaves behind four grandsons, Matt Scott, Shane Ingram, Jason Collins and Lance Mosley; five granddaughters, Jeni Ingram, Shannon Haskill, Colyn Scott, Leigh Hornbuckle and Sarah Brewster; eight great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Ingram will be buried in Steele, Missouri beside his loving wife of 51 years on Sunday, October 8, 2000.
