Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 4, 2000 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church cemetery near Denning, TX with Roy Conrad officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000 at Hill Crest Funeral Home. Mrs. Cupit was born Dec. 16, 1933 in San Augustine, TX to parents John and Vera Snelling Hilton and died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000 at her home in Bossier City after a long battle with cancer. She was a full time wife, mother, homemaker and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bossier City, LA. Mrs. Cupit was preceded in death by her parents, John and Vera Hilton, granddaughter, Jessica Elaine Conrad; brother, Charles E. Hilton, Sr., and sister, Mattie Jackson. Survivors include her husband of 46 1/2 years, Charles W. Cupit of Bossier City, LA; son, Kenneth Cupit and wife, Jennifer of Carrollton, TX; daughter, Mrs. Amy C. Conrad and husband, Roy and grandson, Jonathan Charles Conrad all of Enid, OK; sisters, Mrs. Johnnie Whitescarver, Mrs. Irene Henly both of San Augustine, TX, Mrs. Geraldine VanSchoubroek of Beaumont, TX, Mrs. Mary Williamson of Bossier City, LA; brother, Raymond Hilton of Port Neches, TX. Pallbearers will be Vernon Cupit, Nolan Richey, Ryan Richey, Leonard Johnson, John Henly, Edwin Henly. "Jim" Minner, 64, will be held on Monday, September 4, 2000 at 6 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Minner passed away on Saturday September 2, 2000 after a lengthy illness. He was a resident of this area for some years, and was retired from the Air Force and a model maker for Frymaster Corp. He was also a Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He was preceded in death by his mother Janie Bell Walton, and brother George M. Walton. He is survived by his loving wife Loretta Minner, sons Paul Baker and wife Doris, Terry Baker, Hank Minner and wife Sharles, and Steven T. Minner, daughter Carol Payton and husband Steven, brothers Charles Walton and wife Patsy, and Hubert C. Walton, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews. Sherman BOSSIER CITY - LA Memorial services for Jay Sherman will be held at 10 a.m. Mon., Sept. 4, 2000 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Bossier City, with Dr. Randy Harper, pastor of Bellaire Baptist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends from nine until time for service. Mr. Sherman died on September 2, 2000. A native of Miller County, Arkansas and a resident of Bossier City, he was 82 and a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Bossier and Elks Lodge. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Helgeson Sherman; son, Gary Sherman; parents, E.L. and Birdie Sherman, Bloomburg, Texas; four brothers, Lloyd, Floyd, Norman and Ordell Sherman. Survivors include his wife, Royce Yancy Sherman; a daughter and her husband, Donna and Eddie Hansen; a grandson, Michael Hansen; a granddaughter and her husband, Laura and Danny Shinar, all of Riverside, California; a step-son and his wife, Roger and Dona Wilson, Benton. In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Sherman's body has been donated to LSU-Shreveport Medical School. He was born in Henderson, TX and lived in Shreveport since 1957. He was employed at the Horseshoe Casino as a security guard. Mr. Gorman was preceded in death by his parents, Cubit and Angie Gorman and one sister, Marilyn Gorman. He is survived by his fiancee, Jo-Ann Moran of Shreveport, LA; one daughter, Jill McKinnon and husband, John of Marshall, TX; four brothers, Gene Gorman of Bossier City, LA, Travis Gorman and wife, Phyllis of Haughton, LA, Billy Gorman and wife, Sherry of Ruston, LA, Melvin Gorman and wife, Lisa of Shreveport, LA; two grandchildren, Kevin and Tyler McKinnon.
