J. Anthony Grant, pastor. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 2, 2000 at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 5340 Jewella Ave. Officiating will be Deacon Ross' sons Bishop Odis Floyd and Rev. Gilbert Ross. Interment will be at Forest Park West Cemetery. The body will lie in state at Morning Star B.C, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. On Tuesday, August 29th at 7:01 p.m. Deacon Morris Cornelius Ross departed this life. He was born in Little River, AR. and later moved to Texarkana, AR and in 1950 he relocated to Shreveport, LA uniting with St. Peter B.C. Later St. Peter B.C. merged with the New Zion Baptist Church of Cedar Grove and he remained a faithful servant until death. He had a special love for New Zion B.C. serving as a deacon for 42 years with over 20 years as chairman of the Deacon Board. He established the first Junior Deacon Board of New Zion because of his special love for children. He established along with his wife the first Youth Church and Angelic Choir and he served on the Pastor's Aide for 39 years. Deacon Ross had a genuine love for the Lord which manifest itself through his love for people, his caring and willingness to stand for what was right. He will be forever remembered in the hearts of the young people and all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Ruby Owens Ross; father, Robert C. Ross; mother, Mary Hamilton Ross; brothers, John and Robert Lee; sisters, Mary Lee, Agnus and Calamay; and grandson, Leonard Floyd. Deacon Ross leaves to cherish his memory and continue his legacy: four children, Bishop Odis Floyd (Brenda), Flint, MI; Rev. Gilbert Ross (Ethel), Shreveport, LA; Margie Jones (Lewis), Chicago, IL; Oscar Ross (Thomasina), Fort Worth, TX; 21 grandchildren three of whom he reared as his own Angela Hilson, Ann Sanders (Rev. Patrick Sanders) and Debra R. The beginning of life of Eliza Heads Myers was January 1, 1903, in Mooringsport, LA. She was born to the parentage of Emmett Heads and Mattie Fisher. Eliza was reared in Mooringsport where she received her early childhood education. She attended the public schools of Mooringsport. Eliza confessed to Christ at an early age and was baptized at the St. Paul Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her health failed. Eliza was united in holy matrimony to Starling Myers of Leigh, Texas in 1923. To this uniton, six children were born. Her husband and two children preceded her in death, Starling Myers, Sr.; Eugene Myers and Grace Myers Coley. After a well-spent life, Eliza Myers was called to her eternal rest on August 29, 2000 in Fort Worth, Texas. She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Josephine Hawthorne (Shreveport, LA) and Mary Jane Tigner (Fort Worth, TX); two sons, Starling Myers (Marshall, TX) and Morris Myers (Fort Worth, TX); 17 grandchildren; a host of great and great-great grandchildren, family and friends. ************************************************************ The Times - Shreveport, LA - Published on 09/01/2000 Ethel "Virginia" Camus SHREVEPORT, LA - Graveside services for Ethel "Virginia" Camus, 63, will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 1, 2000 at Forest Park Cemetery on St. Vincent. Officiating will be Mike Blackledge of Countryside Christian Church. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 31, 2000 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Mrs. Camus died Wednesday, August 30, 2000 after a short illness. She was a native and resident of Shreveport. Mrs. Camus was a retired bookkeeper and a member of Countryside Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred H. Camus and Ethel Ellis Camus, and brother, R. A. "Bobby" Camus. Survivors are sister-in-law, Jane R. Camus; nephew, R. A. Camus, Jr.; nieces, Cathie Etheredge and Cindy Pruett. Pallbearers are George Etheredge, Randy Pruett, Kelly Crow, Charles Perser, Dick Hainey and Rick Turner. Mr. Wright, a long time resident of Shreveport, LA, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2000 in Shreveport. He was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Viola Wright; son, Neil Wright and six brothers and sisters. Mr. Wright is survived by three sons, Herchial B.
