Mildred Walker Cummer

SHREVEPORT, LA - Graveside services for Mildred Walker Cummer 
will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 5th at Forest 
Park Cemetery under the direction of Osborn Funeral Home. 

Mildred was born in Shreveport on August 2, 1918 and died February 
1, 2008 at the age of 89. Mildred graduated from Byrd High School 
and spent her freshman year at the University of Texas. She graduated 
as an English major from Centenary College in 1940. She was a member 
of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. She and her late husband William F. Cummer, 
Sr. were married in 1942. They were early members of Broadmoor Methodist 
Church and were very active as Sunday school teachers and served on 
many committees. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Minnie Tigner and Glenn Norris 
Walker, Sr., her husband, William F. Cummer, Sr., brother, Glenn Norris 
Walker, and sister, Virginia Walker Coz. She is survived by a brother, 
James Tigner Walker, and her three sons, Bill and wife, Cynthia , Glenn 
and wife, Linda and Ed and wife Trish. She was blessed with nine 
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 

The family requests that memorials be made to Broadmoor Methodist Church.
