Byrd died suddenly on August 17, 1993. she is survived by her husband of 35 years, Dr. Edwin Henry Byrd J.; a daughter and son-in-law, Gayla Byrd Hargrove and Kem Hargrove; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Edwin Henry Byrd, III, and Allison Cummings Byrd, and Brian Lee Byrd; four Grandchildren, Emma O'Leary Hargrove, Kemerton Dean Hargrove, Jr., Edwin Henry Byrd, IV, and Samuel Pearce Byrd. Also surviving are her mother, Ruth Johnson Fisher; one sister, Ruth Ann Weitz; and two brothers, Kenneth Fisher and Keith Fisher, and by Kelly Deslatte and other loving friends and family. Pallbearers will be James E. Ayres, Charles W. Salley, George Hamilton, Leon Brooks, Donald Massad and Dr. Benjamin Vickers. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. James R. Bergeron, Dr. Arthur L. Lindsay, Dr. Hollis T. Rogers, Jr., Dr. Raymond W. Turner and Edwin Carney Horne, Jr. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, 1993. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday August 19, 1993 at Rose-Neath Marshall Street chapel. Officiating will be Dr. Mark Brister, pastor of Broadmoor Baptist Church, and assisted by the Very Reverend M.L. Agnew, Jr., rector of St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral. Interment will be at forest Park Cemetery, st. Vincent Ave., Shreveport, LA.
