Hale, 81, of Hosston, will be held at 2 p. m. Sunday May 19 at the McGuire Funeral Home Chapel in Vivian, La. The Rev. Gordon Cowan will officiate. Burial will be at Hosston Cemetery. Mr. Hale died Friday, May 17, 1985 at Willis-Knighton Medical Center after a long illness. He was retired from Bayou State Oil Co. He is survived by his wife, Gethra Hale of Hosston, four sons, James J. Hale of Hosston, Robert E. Hale of Shreveport, La., William T. Hale of Hosston, and John R. Hale of Lufkin, Texas; two daughters, Jeannette Edwards of Shreveport and Eleanor Berkley of Shreveport; two sisters, Dessie Player of Vivian and Tessie Lucas of Kilgore, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Comments: Jim Hale was a member of a pioneer Caddo Parish family. His family was one of the first to settle in and create Hale Town, which was once located near modern day Hosston, LA.
