D. a native of Virginia. He resided for many years in Alexandria, Louisiana where was he esteemed for his moral worth and scientific attainments. During the yellow fever epidemic of 1853, he visited Shreveport, and did everything in his power to relieve the suffering of the sick, and stay the ravages of the disease. [The South Western, Shreveport, Louisiana, August 6, 1856.] Note: This Josiah Hale, M. D. is buried in the Black Bayou Cemetery just outside of Vivian, LA.
