Conrad Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Meredith, 93, passed away quietly Monday, Oct. 24th at Christus Schumpert- Highland, after a brief illness, surrounded by family members. Born in Antlers, Oklahoma, she spent the greater part of her life in Shreveport and was a faithful member of the Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands Tommy Dickson and Carey L. Meredith; daughters, Nancy Louise Meredith and Virginia M. Summers; father, George R. Mackey; mother, Ethel Harding Mackey and brother, Kenneth H. "Buddy" Mackey. Survivors include sons, Thomas Patrick "Pat" Dickson and wife Chloe of Bossier City and Carey L. "Bucky" Meredith and wife Melanie of Scaly Mountain, N. Carolina; brother, R. A. Mackey; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one niece; two nephews and six great nephews. Pallbearers will be Christopher L. Meredith, Charles M. Dickson, David P. Dickson, Patrick T. Dickson, Robert A. Mackey, Jr. and Robert A. Mackey III. She was well known for her sense of humor and loved people, dancing and watching LSU football and the Atlanta Braves baseball. She spent her last evening watching, laughing and cheering as LSU defeated Auburn. Her faithful dog, Missy, companion of 20 years, left this life on the same day. The family expresses gratitude to the staff and residents of Kingsley Place for the loving care of their mother. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
