Meredith, Sr., 80, of Shreveport, Saturday, May 5, 1990, at 2 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Carl E. Rhoads, executive minister of First United Methodist Church, where Mr. Meredith was a member. He entered into rest Thursday, May 3, 1990 at Willis-Knighton Medical Center after a brief illness. Mr. Meredith was a native of Caldwell Parish, Louisiana and lived in Shreveport for 50 years. He was a retired Land Manager for Arkla Gas with 37 years service, Veteran of WWII, retired from the U.S. Army Reserves, American Legion, was past president of Blanchard Kiwanis Club, he was instrumental in the implementation of the Pine Hill Water Works, and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity at L.S.U. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, LaVelle M. Meredith; son, Carey L. Meredith, Jr. of Covington, La; daughter, Virginia Summers of Shreveport; step-son, T. Pat Dickson of Bossier; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews. The family suggests that donations be made to The Nation Kidney Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
