All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Shreveport Times Lois Arlene Newnam SHREVEPORT, LA- Graveside services will be conducted at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery for Lois Arlene Newnam on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be Dr. Pat Day, Pastor of The First United Methodist Church of Shreveport. Arlene was born on July 21, 1924 to Albert and Ethel Mitchel in Big Island, VA she went home to be with the Lord on February 8, 2008. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles, Howell, Woodrow and Neal Mitchel; sisters, Louise, Catherine and Patsy. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Bill Newnam; her loving son, Wayne Newnam and wife Donna; nieces, Sharon Godfrey and husband Melvin, Ann Bechtler and husband Donny, all of Rock Hill, SC; nephew, Charles Mitchel and wife Liz of Myrtle Beach, SC and niece, Toni Hill and husband Steve of Forrest, VA and a special brother in law, Edward Dawson from Rock Hill, SC.; numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren and a host of friends. Arlene was a devoted mother and wife who loved to travel. She had lived in and visited several foreign countries while her husband was a member of the Air Force. While overseas she was active with the Red Cross in Military Hospitals and church activities. Arlene was a member of The First United Methodist Church in Shreveport since 1972 and the Four Square Bible Class. She loved to work in her flower and vegtable gardens and she was an active member of the Cross Lake Homemaker Club. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the building fund of First United Methodist Church.
