PORTER Services will be conducted at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, Hwy. 80 East, Haughton, LA for James B. Porter, age 24 of Bossier City, LA on Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998 at 2 p.m. Officiating will be Reverend Billy Pierce of Cypress Baptist Church and Reverend Ed. Baswell of Elm Grove Baptist Church. Interment will be at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the funeral home. James entered into rest on October 22, 1998 in his home surrounded by loved ones after a battle with cancer. He was a native of Tallulah, LA but lived most of his life in Bossier Parish. He was proud to have served as a Deputy of Bossier Parish. He intended to follow in his father's footsteps, Sgt. Steve Porter of Louisiana State Police, and serve his life in law enforcement. He was prededed in death by his brother, Kenneth Porter who died from cancer 22 months ago. He is survived by his wife, Kim Porter and two children, Jace and Jordan; mother and adoptive father, Brenda and Steve Porter; step-mother and father, Mary and Curtis Peters; mother and father-in-law, B. H. and Marti Toney; brother, Aaron Porter and sister Adrienne Porter; two nephews, Benjamine and Travis Porter and one niece, Kayla Toney. Also survived by his maternal grandparents, Walter and Wilma Wyatt of Tallulah, LA and paternal grandparents, Aubrey and Thelma Porter of Benton, LA along with numerous other relatives., Pallbearers will be Cleatus Ross, Shawn Toney, Eric Overby, Shawn Hudson, Lloyd Wyatt, and Boyd Wyatt. Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Wyatt, Jr., Richard Porter and Victor Porter. The family would like to thank the Bossier Parish Sherriff's Dept. for the love, support, and devotion to Deputy Porter and his family; and thanks to Bossier Medical Center Hospice for their tender loving care.
