Comments: This record is from Leonard Rochelle's interment book. Many of the people listed that attended the funeral were oil field workers themselves living at the time in an area of Caddo Parish called Pine Island which at one time had been an actual island. There was a small community on Pine Island and nearly all homes were on oil company property and rented to their workers. Now this community no longer exists and all of the homes are gone. Even the dirt roads that led to these homes are closed off by the oil companies. Pine Island is located between Vivian and Gilliam, Louisiana.
