Typed by Margaret Rentrop Moore D. Hebert, Lake Arthur - D. Hebert was born October, 1836, near where he recides. He is the son of Alexander and Clarisse (Broussard)Hebert, natives of what was then Lafayette parish, Louisiana. The Hebert family is purely of French extraction. Alexander Hebert was one of the first settlers of Calcasieu parish, having located there when just a young man. He was a large land holder and an extensive stock riser; he died August, 1865, his widow surviving him until December, 1890, being eighty-six years of age at the time of her death. They reared a family of ten children, eight sons and two daughters, only three of whom are mow living, the subject of this sketch and two daughters, viz: Aspasie, wife of Napoleon Broussard, and Carmelite, wife of Gustave Laurent. D. Hebert owns over six thousand acres of land in this section and gives his attention cheifly to stock dealing. During the late war Mr. Hebert was on duty in Texas, from 1862 until its close. Mr. Hebert is a liberal contributor to all laudable enterprise. He is a progressive and a good business man. He has twice married, his first wife was Miss Euphemie Hebert, whom he married in 1862. Mrs. Hebert died in 1890, and Mr. Hebert afterward married Miss Osite Ledoux, of this parish.
