Typed by Margaret Rentrop Moore W.M. Holiday, Lorette - W. M. Holiday is a native of Jones county, Georgia, born in 1841. He removed from Georgia to Texas, and from that place in 1857 to Vernon parish, Louisiana, and thence to Calcasieu parish in 1885. His parents were both natives of Georgia, where his father was engaged in planting. During the late civil war his father was in the Confederate service from 1862 until his death in 1863. He served under Capt. Bryan, now a resident of Lake Charles. Our subject was also a soldier in that struggle, He enlisted in March, 1862, and served till the surrender. He was in many of the active engagements, After the war he returned home, and has since been a planter and stock raiser. Mr. Holiday has twice married; first, in December, 1866 to Miss Louisa Miller, who died in 1883. He afterward married Miss Julia Fentrel. Mr. Holiday has held various offices, and takes an active part in political affairs. He has at different times served as police juror and constable. Mr. Holiday and wife are both members of the Baptist church. They are the parents of eleven children, all of whom are living.
