Elias Miers, Beckenworth - Elias Miers is a native of Calcasieu parish, born
1854.  His father and mother were both natives of this parish.  
The subject of this sketch has always been a planter and stock raiser.  He was
married in 1875 to Miss Prudence Slayderas; they are the parents of five
children.  Both Mr. Miers and wife are members of the Baptist church.  He is the
president of the Farmers' Alliance, Pleasant Hill Lodge.
