Typed by Margaret Rentrop Moore JAMES L. WEST, Davis Mills.- James L. West was born in Claiborne parish, Louisiana, 1848. His father was a native of Mississippi, and was a farmer and stock raiser; he died in 1887. His widow still survives him and now resides in Vernon parish. The subject of this sketch is a farmer. He has a plantation of about three hundred acres of fine land, where he resides. Mr. West is one of the successful planters of this section. He was married, in 1869, to Miss Julia Lewis; they are the parents of four children.
