The petition of Charles W. Jackson, a resident of your parish and state, with respect represents: I. That his wife, Mrs. Caroline Jackson, born Sonier, died in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, on or about the 24th day of December, 1914, leaving as issue of her marriage with him the following named children, all of whom are minors, to-wit: A. Charles W. Jackson, Jr., ages fifteen years. B. Floid Jackson, aged thirteen years. C. Ruby Jackson, aged ten years. D. Pearl Jackson, aged seven years. II. That said minor children have inherited from their deceased grandfather, Savenia Sonier, by representation through their said deceased mother, who was a daughter of the said Savenia Sonier, certain property in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. III. That your petitioner, by reason of his relationship to said minor children, is entitled to be confirmed as their natural tutor; and that an under tutor should likewise be appointed to represent them in that capacity. IV. That Edward Sonier, an uncle of said minors, is a discreet and suitable person to act as under tutor for said minor children. V. That in order to effectuate the purposes of these proceedings and in order that your petitioner may be legally qualified as such natural tutor, it is necessary that an inventory of all of the property belonging to said minors be taken and filed herein and extract thereof filed in the mortgage records. Wherefore, petitioner prays that a commission issue, directed to Chas. R. Cline or any other duly qualified notary public in and for Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, authorizing him, with the assistance of experts to be appointed by your honorable court, to take and make an estimative inventory of all the property belonging to said minors in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, and to make due return thereof to this honorable court. That, Upon the filing of an extract there of in the office of the Clerk of Court and upon its inscription in the mortgage records of Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, and upon your petitioner and the said Edward Sonier’s taking the oaths of office and otherwise qualifying, they be appointed, respectively, as natural tutor and under tutor to said minors, and that letters of tutorship accordingly issue to your petitioner. He further prays for all necessary orders and for full, general and equitable relief. () STATE OF LOUISIANA TO THE HONORABLE JUDGES OF THE ABOVE NAMED COURT: The petition of Mrs. Charles W. Jackson, surviving widow of Charles W. Jackson, deceased, with respect represents: That her said husband recently died in the parish of Calcasieu, Louisiana. That at the time of his death the said Charles W. Jackson was the duly qualified Natural Tutor of his minor children, Charles W. Jackson, Jr., Floid Jackson, Ruby Jackson, and Pearl Jackson, all issue of his former marriage with Mrs. Caroline Jackson, born Sonier. That said children are therefore step-children of your petitioner and that they are presently residing with her, and being cared for by her. That the estate of said Charles W. Jackson, deceased, father of said minors, had a legitimate claim which has been recognized against the Gulf Refining Company of Louisiana in a sum of approximating $270.00, but that said company declines to make settlement except through a duly qualified tutor for said minor children. That it is, therefore, necessary that such a tutor be qualified and commissioned, and that letters of tutorship issue; that there is no one who can be forced to accept said tutorship, but that your petitioner is willing to accept the same, provided she is not required to furnish bond. That said minors have no other property whatever except a 1/28th undivided interest in eighty (80) acres of land in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. That inventory thereof heretofore been filed in the office of the Clerk of Court showing the value of the interests of said minors therein to b e $115.50, and an extract thereof recorded in the mortgage records of Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. That in order to qualify your petitioner as dative tutrix of said minors it is not required by law that any extract of inventory whatever be recorded in the mortgage records. That in order to carry through the purposes of this proceeding, it is necessary that a family meeting be convened, consisting of the nearest relatives, and, in the absence thereof, of friends of said minors, residing with the radius prescribed by law, to deliberate and make recommendations concerning the best interests of said minors and especially the appointment of a dative tutor without bond for said minors. That the nearest relatives of said minors residing within the radius prescribed, as aforesaid, are as follows: SAM JACKSON…. First cousin M. SONIER …. Uncle RUFUS SONIER…. First cousin JOE SONIER…. Carter, or any other duly qualified Notary Public of Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, authorizing him to convoke a family meeting, to consist of said nearest relatives, and, in the absence of their relatives, the nearest friends of said minors, for the purpose of deliberating and making recommendations on behalf of and for the best interest of said minors, and especially with reference to the appointment of a dative tutor, or tutrix, without bond, for said minor children. And she prays for all necessary orders and decrees in the premised, and for full, general and equitable relief.
