Triplett Chief Justice of OC Additional Comments: I am submitting this succession to the Calcasieu Parish, LA archives because all of the Joseph Sonnier, Sr. family migrated to Calcasieu Parish, LA around 1862. Many of my family had no idea there were any Orange County, TX records on our Sonnier family. The Joseph Sonnier, Sr. family was originally from Lafayette Parish, LA and migrated to Orange County, TX c. late 1850's. The Joseph Sonnier, Sr. family held vast land acreage in Orange County but due to a tax swindle lost all their land holdings. Julienne Guidry, wife of Joseph Sonnier, Sr., was the granddaughter of Pierre Guidry, Sr. who died as one of the richest men in Louisiana. Pierre Guidry, Sr. came to Louisiana from Acadia with nothing but the shirt on his back. The Acadians were strong people and survivors!
