The first gave in her will everything to her older sister who died six months later without leaving a will. In order to settle the estate, it is necessary to have all the powers of attorney. The children Biet left their power of attorney with a lawyer at Langres before leaving the country. However, your absence and the lack of you power of attorney has prevented the sale of the possessions. We can not do anything until we have either your notarized power of attorney or you come yourself to represent your interests. You could assign your power of attorney to your brother Derosier Bellou, or to the husband of your sister Louise, or to me, or to any other person you would decide upon. I am writing you again in the fear that the first letter I sent by way of England did not reach you. I am sending this letter by American steamship line which makes the trip regularly. I implore you to use all the swiftness possible to send your power of attorney because the delays have already caused a double tax for the cost of probate. The inheritance is not so considerable that one can ignore useless expenses. When you send your power of attorney, please indicate the method to give you your share. I think we will have about four to five hundred francs each. The family is well enough except for myself. I've been slightly ill for about a month. We hope that your wife and your son and yourself are all enjoying very good health. All the family joins with me in embracing you. Your brother-in-law, Sergier Derosier"
