Mr. Babineaux died Friday, Dec. 26, 1997, in the Sulphur hospital. A native of Big Lake, he lived most of his life in the Lake Charles area. He served in the Army Air Corp in World War II and he was stationed at the Azore Island. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a lifelong member of the American Legion Post 208, both in Vinton. He was a member of the VFW Post 2130 and Bon Ami Club Chapter 3, both in Lake Charles. He retired as a welder with Texas Gas Transmission Corp. after 30 years of service. A native of DeRidder, he was a graduate of the USL where he was a charter member of Kappa Sigma fraternity and a member of the Arnold Air Society. He served in the U.S. Air Force Strategic Air Command, attaining the rank of captain. While in Louisiana, he was active in the Republican Party and the campaigns of Congressman Dave Treen. In Louisiana, he began his 36-year career with Curtis 1000 Inc., a supplier of printed products in Atlanta, from which he retired as president. In Atlanta he was a member of the Kiwanis Club and served on the Board of Federation of Independent Colleges. Survivors are his wife, Shirley Barentine; two sons, W.S. (Barry) Barentine Jr. and Richard Barentine; three daughters, Beth Worthington,Lynne B., Will and Katherine Barentine;, and five grandchildren. She was co-founder and past president of the West Calcasieu-Cameron Hospital Auxiliary in ,Sulphur and a member of the Oakdale Community Hospital Auxiliary, with over 4,000 hours of volunteered service between 1975 and 1989. LCAP 1/23/1997 Funeral services for Virginia Perello Bivona, 89, will be at 3 pm today, Jan 23, from Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. The Rev. Danny Torres will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery under direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 8am with a rosary at 1pm in the funeral home. Mr.s Bivona died at 6:25 pm Tuesday, Jan 21, 1997 in a local hospital. A lifelong resident of Lake Charles, she was a salesperson for Riff's for a number of years. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and a former member of the Ladies Altar Society. Survivors are one son, Vincent Bivona of Walker; one grandson; and one stepgrandchild.
