The Rev. Dale Gary will officiate. Mr. Dahlquist died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 1997, in a Lake Charles hospital. A lifelong resident of DeQuincy, he was a member of the 1931 class of DeQuincy High and a graduate of Vincent Business College. A charter member of Temple Baptist Church, he was a retired booker with M and J Chevrolet. Survivors are one daughter, Dianne Perkins of DeQuincy; four grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; and 40 stepgrandchildren. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice, the family said. Mrs. Daigle died at 10:24 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 1997, in her residence. A lifelong resident of Lake Charles, she was a descendent of F.M. LaGrange, a pioneer Lake Charles settler, and was a graduate of LaGrange High School and attended McNeese State University. She was an insurance adjuster for over 20 years with United States Federal and Guarantee Insurance Co. Survivors are her husband; one son, Albert L. Daigle of Westlake; one sister, Lois Thibodeaux of Lake Charles; and her mother, Eva Williams of Lake Charles. DAIGLE, Bernice K. LCAP 12/16/1997 Funeral services for Mrs. Bernice K. A life long resident of Lake Charles, he had worked as an electrician at Cities Service for 32 years and was a member of IBEW Local 861 and the union's United Way representative in 1979. He served as president of Northside Little League in the 1960s, organized the T-Ball program at Mid-City Little League in 1972, and had served as assistant soccer coach at St. Louis High School. Survivors include his wife, Reba Fruge Darce; one son, Mark Darce of Lake Charles; four daughters, Donna Burke of Lafayette, Rona Tallman and Linda Scallan,' both of Lake Charles, and Kim Moseley of Moss Bluff, one brother, Bobby Darce; one sister, Joyce Wilkinson; his mother, Leona Wiltz Darce, all of Lake Charles; and eight grandchildren. He was the first black master plumber in the Lake Charles area. Mr. David died at 1:28 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 1997, in Lake Charles. He was retired after 33 years as a supervisor at Continental Oil Company and after 14 years at the Cash Drug Company. He was a faithful pilot and Fourth Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1173. He was an active member and usher at St. Landry Parish Catholic Church. He was a supporter of AIC Catholic Schools, a member of the Elks Club, a volunteer flreman and a volunteer at Opelousas General Hospital. He was also a supporter of OHS. Mr. de la Houssaye died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 1997, in a Crowley care center. A native of New Orleans, he joined the firm of Cormier and Co. after he graduated from high school in 1917. He was known for his ability to grade rice and became manager and CEO of Kaplan Rice Mill, the world's largest at that time. He expanded the market into Europe, Central and South America during this time, and became president of the Rice Millers Association in 1936. He later became owner of the Mermentau Rice Mill, and remained active in the rice industry until he retired in 1957. After World War II he helped form the Greater Crowley Industrial Development Corp., which brought Capitol Manufacturing and Crowley Manufacturing to town; and also established the first Crowley Industrial Park. In 1967, the Greater Crowley Chamber of Commerce named him Outstanding Citizen of the Year, and in 1970 he was presented with the Outstanding Director award by the Chamber, He was appointed to served on the Regional Export Expansion Council in 1971 by the secretary of the U.S. Department of Coninierce. He was also a membpr of the First Presbyterian Church and of the Masonic Order since 1932. Survivors include his wife, Shelby Tradewell Dykes; one son, Derrel Dykes of DeQuincy; one daughter, Sandra Dykes of DeQuincy; two step-sons, Randy and Kevin Stockman, both of Lake Charles; two brothers, Rev. M.L. Dykes of Leaksville, Miss. and Roy Eugene Dykes of Tylertown; three sisters, Jeanette Dillon of Tylertown, Mary Ann Robertson of Kenner and Virginia Dale Lakey of Safford, Ariz.; his mother, Margie Dykes of Tylertown; and four step-grandchildren.
