Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation is from 2-10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Monday. Rev. LaBauve died Saturday, Feb. 1, 1997, in a Lake Charles care center. He was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles and in 1924, at age 17, won the highest ranking in the Boy Scouts of America and had earned 61 merit badges. A former pastor of Sulphur Tabernacle in Sulphur, he had been an evangelist in the Lake Charles area for many years. Survivors are two brothers, D.J. LaBauve of Lake Charles and Richard LaBauve of New Orleans; three sisters, Bridget Mary Landry and Betty Cooke of Lake Charles, and Alice Brocato of Moss Bluff. She graduated from Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans in 1941. She worked as a public health nurse in Marksville. In 1943 she enlisted as an Army Nurse and served in World War II. Upon arrival home, she was commissioned as first lieutenant, a rank bestowed on her by President Harry S. Truman. She began teaching in 1962 at St. Margaret Catholic School and continued for 25 years until retirement. She was a lay minister and member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. She assisted on various committees which in-cluded Diocese of Lake Charles Evaluation Team at our Lady's School in Sulphur, St. Margaret Parish Council, Parent Teacher Club, Alter Society and Reli-gious Education Commission Chairperson). She was representative of teachers on St. Margaret Parent Teachers Club Executive Board; and the National Catholic Educational Association. She also served as the school nurse. She was a recipient of a St. Margaret Parish Devoted Service Medal, and in her honor, the 1982-1983 St. Margaret Yearbook was dedicated to her. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Tommy (Suzanne) Robichaux of Larose and Mrs. Carroll (Frances) LeMaire of Grand Lake; one son, Jay LaFleur of Lake Charles; one sister, Mrs. James (Burneat Taylor) Paul of Orange, Texas; and seven grandchildren.
