He served in the Army's ist Cavalry Division during World War 11 and earned two Bronze Stars. He was a member of Painters Local 783, a member of the Cajun Music Hall of Fame, a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and had coached Little League baseball for many years. He was a member and deacon emeritus of First Baptist Church of Lake Charles for 45 years and served on the World Hunger Committee of the Louisiana Baptist Convention.
