Obituary: Gabbert Hickman

GABBERT HICKMAN

Funeral services for Gabbert Hickman, 73, will be at 11:30 a.m.
Thursday, Sept. 5, in Johnson Funeral Home.
The Rev. Victor Sedinger will officiate. Burial will be in Highland
Memory Gardens.
Visitations will begin at 3:30 p.m. today, Sept. 4.
Mr. Hickman died at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 1991, at his residence.
A lifelong resident of Lake Charles, he was a World War II veteran
serving with the Navy Seabees in the South Pacific and Guadacanal. He
was a member of American Legion W. B. Williamson Post 1 and Operating
Engineers Local 407. In the 1930's, he played professional baseball in
the Texas League and played semi-pro baseball for the Lake Charles
baseball team.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Virgie Hickman; one daughter, Mrs. Judy
Hickman Brewton; one brother, Archie E. Hickman, Jr.; his father, Archie
E. Hickman Sr. all of Lake Charles; and two grandchildren.
