William C., Florence, Lucy, and Pearl Jackson were four of the eight children of Charles William Jackson and Caroline Sonnier. Florence Jackson married Oscar Emmett Hewitt. Lucy Jackson married Lee Duhon, son of Jean Baptiste Duhon and Marie Ozea Benoit. Pearl Jackson married David R. Potts, son of Truman A. Potts and Alma Abbot. William C. Jackson married Medell Berry, daughter of Cleveland Berry and Idell Sonnier. The other children of Charles W. Jackson and Caroline Sonnier were Dora Jackson who married Jesse Emmet Crockett, son of William Henry Crockett and Elizabeth Musselman, Ruby Lee Jackson who married A. J. Leboeuf and Douglas E. Carpenter, Ward W. Jackson who married Ivy Pearl Broussard, daughter of Joseph Dassas Broussard and Marie Molly Cormier, and Floyd Jackson. FLORENCE HEWITT ORANGEFIELD, Tex. (Spl.) -- Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Hewitt, 70, of Orangefield, Tex., were set at 10 a.m. today in the Noguess funeral home chapel with Rev. Bill Johnson, pastor of officiating. Mrs. Hewitt, a native of Toomey, died at 5:18 a.m. Friday in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Granger in Orangefield. Burial was to be in the Evergreen cemetery in Orangefield. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Granger and Mrs. W. H. Settle of Baytown, Tex.; one step-daughter, Mrs. John Haynie of Stone Mountain, GA.; two sons, A. E. Hewitt of Dayton, Tex. And W. L. Hewitt of Orangefield; six grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. J. E. Crockett, Minden; Mrs. Lee Duhon of Hackbery, Mrs. D. E. Carpenter of Orange, Tex., and Mrs. David Potts of Sulphur; and two brothers W. C. Jackson of New Orleans and Floyd Jackson of Hackberry. LUCY DUHON HACKBERRY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Jackson Duhon, 72, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, from Our Lady Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Sulphur. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Garden of Memories under direction of Hammer Funeral Home of Sulphur. A Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. today, Sept. 20, in the funeral home chapel. Mrs. Duhon died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in an Orange, Tex., hospital after a brief illness. She was a native of Edgerly and had lived most of her life in Hackberry. Survivors are son son, Austin Duhon of Hackberry; three daughters, Mrs. Sybil James of Sulphur, Mrs. Wilma Granger of DeRidder and Mrs. Marjorie Pousson of Lake Charles. Also, one brother, Floyd Jackson of Hackberry, two sisters, Mrs. D. E. Carpenter of Orange and Mrs. Dora Crockett of Minden; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. American Press September 27, 1962 LEE DUHON HACKBERRY (Spl.) -- Lee Duhon, 73, died at 4 a.m. today in his home at Hackberry. The body is at the Burke-Hammer funeral home in Sulphur where Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor church. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Garden of Memories. Mr. Duhon was a native and lifelong resident of Hackberry. He was a farmer. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucy Jackson Duhon of Hackberry; one son, Austin Duhon of Hackberry; three daughters, Mrs. Harry James and Mrs. Floyd Ford, both of Sulphur and Mrs. O. M. Granger of DeRidder; one brother, Claiborne J. Duhon of Sulphur; one sister, Mrs. Lillie Ravier of Lake Charles; and 14 grandchildren. American Press April 12, 1972 MRS. PEARL POTTS DEQUINCY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Pearl Potts, 57, were to be at 3 p.m. today, April 12, in the Magnolia Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles Harlon, was to officiate. Burial was to be in Magnolia Cemetery under direction of Snider Funeral Home. Mrs. Potts died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday in the West Calcasieu-Cameron Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was a resident of the area all her life. She was a member of the Magnolia Baptist Church. Her body was to remain at the funeral home until time of services. Survivors are two sons, Charles D. and Martin A. Potts, both of DeQuincy; one daughter Rose Morine of Carlyss; one brother, Floyd Jackson of Hackberry; three sisters, Mrs. Ruby Carpenter of Orange, Tex., Mrs. Dora Crockett of Minden, and Mrs. Lucy Duhon of Hackberry, and 12 grandchildren. American Press March 26, 1971 MR. DAVID POTTS DEQUINCY--Funeral services for David P. Potts, 63, were to be at 2 p.m. today (March 26) in the Magnolia Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles Harlon, was to officiate. Burial was to be in Magnolia Cemetery under direction of Snider Funeral Home. Mr. Potts died at 1:50 a.m. Thursday in a Lake Charles hospital after a long illness. He was an operator at Davison Chemical Co. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Pearl Potts; two sons Charles Potts of Dequincy and Mark Potts of Houston; one daughter, Mrs. Rose Morine of Carylss; three sisters, Mrs. Rose Bayne and Mrs. Sam J. Isles both of Ragley, and Mrs. Allie Mae McGwinn of Houston; and 12 grandchildren. American Press June 1, 1992 MRS. PEARL GRANGER VINTON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Pearl Broussard Granger, 91, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, from St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Charles Soileau will officiate. Burial will be in Courmier Cemetery under direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Visitation is from 2 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary in the funeral home. Mrs. Granger died Sunday, May 31, 1992 in a local hospital. A member of the Broussard family which has lived in the Vinton area since the 1700s, she was a native of Toomey and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Survivors are three daughters, Earline Guillory of Vinton, Joyce Metcalf of New Braunfels, Texas and Jackie Jackson of Toomey; one brother, Wilson Broussard of Sour Lake, Texas, 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
