Mr. Bahnsen died Monday, June 29, 1998, in Vinton. A native of Vinton, he was a Marine veteran of World War II. He was employed by S.R.W. Dupont for 37 years, retiring in 1985. Survivors include six sons, David Bahnsen of Deer Park, Texas, Jody Bahnsen of Deweyville, Texas, Neal and Curtis Bahnsen, both of Vinton and Mark and Ross Bahnsen, both of Beaumont, Texas; one daughter Lydia Depwe of Orange, Texas; one brother, Elton Bahnsen of Athens, Ga.; five sisters, Wilda Hale of Kirbyville, Texas, Dorothy Wilson and Oneta Sandifer, both of Vinton, Maggie Husers of Lake Charles and Carolyn McConnaughhay of Sulphur; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Miss Barrett died Thursday, June 18, 1998, in a local hospital. A lifelong resident of Lake Charles, she was a member of Boulevard Baptist Church. She was a graduate of LaGrange Senior High and New Orleans Baptist Seminary. Survivors include two brothers, Billie Jo Barrett and Ira Richard Richardson Sr., both of Lake Charles. The body will be cremated. Mrs. Bauer was a native of Davenport, Iowa. Survivors include her husband, Dr. William E. Bauer; five sons, Billy Edwin Bauer, Ronald E. Bauer and Dr. Gary L. A native of Estherwood, she lived in Welsh for approximately 50 years and in Lake Charles for the past 16 years. She worked as a clerk in a Welsh clothing store. She was a former member of the Catholic Daughters and a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors in Welsh. Survivors include one son, James H. Broussard of Friendswood, Texas; one duaghter, Collette B. He farmed and owned his own truck line for 20 years, and worked in the oil field for 20 years. Mr. Chatman died Sunday, June 14, 1998, in a local hospital. A lifelong resident of Lake Charles, he was the 1920 Southwest Louisiana and Southeast Texas Lightweight Boxing Champion. During his boxing career, he fought on the same card as heavyweight champions Jack Johnson and Texas Red. He retired in 1972 from the Olin Chemical Refinery. He also worked as a gardener and operated a shoeshine stand in the Old Lake Charles Barber Shop for many years. He was a charter member of Messiah Missionary Baptist Church when it was formed in 1991, where he was a member of the Willing Worker's Committee. He was a former deacon at Greater Live Oak and Mt. Calvary Baptist churches. Survivors include one daughter, Melinda Chatman Edwards of Los Angeles; one stepson, Daniel Hackett of Duarte, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Beulah Toussaint of Lake Charles and Mrs. Lula Duhon of Houston; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was a longstanding member of the Business and Professional Women's Club since 1957. She was also named Business and Professional Woman of the Year in 1993. A native of Tremont, she had lived in Lake Charles since 1907. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school and participated in the Under the Shepherd program as well as the women's study group. She was the owner and operator of her late husband's business, Tom Clarke Insurance Agency, until a few years ago. She was the past president and longtime treasurer of the Mutual Insurance Agents Association, which voted her Agent of the Year. She was also past treasurer for IBEW Local 186 Auxiliary. Survivors include two sons, William T. "Billy" Clarke and Thomas Clarke Jr., both of Lake Charles; two daughters, Constance Lee Clarke of New York, N.Y., and Mildred "Woo" Clarke St. John of Lake Charles; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was the first woman printer in the state of Louisiana and had worked for Alta Printing Company for 16 years. A retired Presbyterian minister and resident of Azalea Trace in Pensacola, Fla., he was a native of Opelika, Ala., and grew up in Decatur, Ga. He graduated from Davidson College and received a masters degree from Columbia Theological Seminary and a doctor of divinity degree from Presbyterian College. He served as minister of the First Presbyterian Church in Rome, Ga., and was a chaplain in the U.S. Navy during World War II and participated in three major invasions, including Normandy and Okinawa. He served 25 years at the First Presbyterian Church of Baton Rouge, during which time he served as moderator of Presbytery and moderator of the Synod of Louisiana. He also served on the General Assembly Board of World Missions. He was president of the American Red Cross, United Givers and Rotary Club. He was honored by the Fellowship of Christians and Jews and served as National Chaplain of the Navy League. He was also a pastor in Laurel, Mississippi, and the International Church in Kinshasa, Zaire. Survivors include one son, Dr. John W. In 1950, she was named ''Woman of the Year'' by the citizens of Lake Charles. She was active in the Louisiana State Handicapped Children's Program and served as state president for one term. She received a distinguished award in 1979 from that organization for her many hours of volunteer service. She fought for the rights of the disabled in the Louisiana Legislature and was instrumental in getting the Handicapped Olympics established in Lake Charles. After her retirement in 1980, she moved to Gatesville. She had held an executive position with the Pink Ladies Association for hospitals in Lake Charles and after moving to Gatesville she remained active with hospital auxiliary work. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Gatesville, Delta Kappa Gamma, AAUW, National Education Association, Louisiana State Teachers Association, National Association of Retired Teachers, Eastern Star and the Garden Club of Gatesville. Reid Jr. and was Operations Coordinator for Mobil Oil Corporation in the Lake Charles office. Upon retirement, she moved to St. Landry Parish were she was an office supervisor in the Clerk of Court's office. She worked as a free lance writer and contributed articles to the Lafayette Daily Advertiser. She was a member and past president of the Desk and Derrick Club of Lake Charles, member of the Southwest Louisiana Genealogical Society, a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church and a secretary for the Ward I Recreation Baseball Program. Mr. Williams died Friday, June 19, 1998, in an Alexandria hospital. A native of Lynchburg, Va., he lived in Lake Charles for 38 years. He retired from the Army as a lieutenant colonel in 1960, and moved to Lake Charles where he taught engineering at McNeese State University. He retired as an associate professor of mechanical engineering in 1983. He was also a registered professional engineer and worked as a consulting engineer. He was a former president of the Lake Charles chapter of the Louisiana Engineering Society, a former member of the board of directors for the Louisiana Engineering Society and a former member of the American Society for Engineering Education. He was a past commander of the American Legion W.B. Williams Post 1. He was a past Worshipful Master of the John C. Ayres Masonic Lodge, a Past Worthy Patron for the Calcasieu Chapter 164 of the Eastern Star, a member of the Order of the Amaranth and a charter member of the Habibi Shrine Temple. He was a member of University Methodist Church and served on the board of directors for University United Methodist Church. He was involved with scouting as an adult leader. He was a member of the Southwest Louisiana Rose Society. Survivors include his wife, Kathryn D. Williams; two sons, James F.
