Lake Charles American Press

Passed away at Home of Her Daughter Mrs. S.A. Knapp (From Wednesday's Daily)
Mrs. Inez I. Kennedy, resident of Lake Charles for about 35 years, died at the 
home of her daughter, Mrs. S.A. Knapp, yesterday afternoon following a long 
illness.  She was the mother of Mrs. H.V. Rock, Mrs. S.A. Knapp and Lucien W. 
Kennedy. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from 
the residence of S.A. Knapp 527 Pujo Street.

Additional Comments:
She was born Inez Isadore Higgins on November 10, 1848. She taught school in 
Lake Charles for many years. Acording to a tribute to her in the Lake Charles 
American Press dated 15 Oct 1925: "she was an earnest, active Christian, a 
member of the Simpson Methodist Episcopal Church in Lake Charles. She taught a 
young men's Bible class.  She was a member of the Review Club, keeping up with 
her literary work in it for 30 years. She was also a Charter Member of the 
Lake Charles Enterprise Club, established in January 1899.  She graduated on 
July 7, 1869 from Genesee Weslyn Seminary.  She was a member of Simpson 
Methodist Church in Lake Charles, La.
in 1888 she came to Lake Charles, LA with her husband, Lucien William 
Kennedy.  He was the supervisor of the building of the Kansas City, Watkins 
and Gulf Railroad between Lake Charles and Alexandria, LA
