She was born on July 13, 1922 in Fullerton, Louisiana and resided in Westlake. She married Melvin Maddox Sr., January 25, 1939 in Pitkin, La. Gladys worked diligently with church fundraisers and newborn members were blessed with a hand embroided baby quilt to keep them warm and made with love. Survivors include her sons, Melvin V. Maddox Jr. and wife, Anncie, Paul Raymond Maddox and wife, Cheryl; daughters, Barbara Jean Oldham and husband, Thomas, Betty Fay Ewing and husband, Edward; sister, Elane Moreaux; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her father, W.D. Jackson Sr.; mother, Clara Jackson; husband, Melvin V. Maddox Sr.; sons, William Riley Maddox, Michael Eugene Maddox; brothers, W.D. Jackson Jr., Alvie Jackson; sisters, Velma Duffall, Ima Jean Parton, and Lois Perault. Her funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2010 at Hixson Funeral Home in Westlake. Bro. W.H. Yarbrough will officiate. Sheldon Dunham will be performing the Eulogy. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Westlake. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Thursday and Friday 8 a.m. til time of service.
