James was born on January 23, 1935 to the parents of Edville and Marant Marcantel in Ville Platte, Louisiana. He was a 1954 graduate of Ville Platte High School. After graduation James joined the National Guard and served his country. Mr. Marcantel was the owner and operator of Marcantel's Taxidermist for 27 years making the local wildlife animals come to life. Mr. Marcantel also worked for local #406 for 38 years as an operator in the local plants. James was a member of Our Lady of Good Council Catholic Church. He loved camping and cooking but most of all spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Mrs. Ruby Guillory Marcantel of Lake Charles, four sons: Darrell Marcantel and his wife Susan of Westlake, LA, Kent Marcantel of Lake Charles, LA, Mitch Marcantel of Lake Charles and Kevin Marcantel and his wife Laura of San Antonio, TX, one sister Lou Charles of Lake Charles, six grandchildren: Chad, Mathew, Justin, Julianne, Ruby Gayle Marcantel and Chris Long. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 2:00 PM from the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Allen Troullier will officiate. Visitation will begin today at 8:00 AM until the time of services
