He died Friday, July 8. *(2005) He was a World War II veteran MP who served in the Philippines and Japan, where he received the Good Conduct medal and the Pacific Theater of Operation Ribbon. He was a 1939 graduate of Sulphur High School and a 1951 graduate of Southwest Louisiana trade school as an electrician. He worked for J&J Armature for 39 years and was a member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Murrell Nassar. He is survived by two sons, Joseph Nassar and wife Nancy of Aurora, Colo., and Davis Nassar and wife Charlotte of Sulphur; two daughters, Phyllis Widcamp of Westlake and Myrna Menard and husband Jesse of Vinton; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numbeous nieces and nepheews. Visitation is 2-9 p.m. today, with a rosary at 6:30 p.m., and from 8 a.m. Monday in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
