RHODRIGUEZ FUNERAL SERVICE 4 THIS AFTERNOON Ignace Rhodriguez, 84, died yesterday (1 July 1935) evening at 7:45 at his home at 501 Lawrence, corner Hodges, following a two weeks illness. The immediate cause of death was pneumonia, which developed a few days ago. Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock this afternoon at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, the Rev. Matthias Cramers, assistant pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Graceland cemetery, directed by Burke & Trotti. Pallbearers will be Lennox Brown, Henry Buller, Donald Hagan, Jack Perkins, Athan Coe, Fred T. Smith. Mr. Rhodriguez was a member of a New Orleans family, his father a Spaniard and his mother a French woman, having moved to that city from Europe upon their marriage. He was born in Madisonville at his parents' country home. During the War Between the States, his father and eldest brother serving with the Confederacy, his mother, moved with him to Rapides Parish, near what is now the community of Canton. Reaching manhood, he moved to old Calcasieu parish 60 years ago, and in which he had since resided. Fifty-eight years ago last March, he was wedded to Theresa Hebert, daughter of the late Francois and Denise Miller Hebert, founders of the Hebert settlement, north of Iowa, where they moved from near Opelousas. Mr. Rhodriguez spent the lartger part of his active life as a timber and log man on the Calcasieu River. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Frank Rhodriguez of Lake Charles and four daughters, Mrs. Adam Buller of Iowa; Mrs. Frank A. Smith of Lake Charles; Mrs. Frank J. Hixon of Turrell, Ark.; Mrs. H. J. Jessen of DeQuincy; and the following grandchildren: Henry Buller of Iowa; J. Bryant Horne, Jackson, Miss.; Mrs. W. L. Brown, Alexandria; Mrs. Dr. Raymond Wallace, Knoxville, Tenn.; Fred T. Smith of Lake Charles; Margaret Jessen, DeQuincy; Bernice Buller, Iowa; Harold Rhodriguez, Lake Charles. Four great-grandchildren also survive.
