He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Dental Corps. Following the war he moved to Lake Charles. where he practiced dentistry from 1947 until his retirment in 1985. He served as president of the South west La. Dental District. A lifelong member of the Cathedral of The Immaculate Conseption, he served as lector and member of the Finance Committe,, He was active in cattle and and farm management. He was the former owner of the Broken Mirror Nightclub, Speedy's Photography Shop, Speedy's Television Repair Shop, Speedy's Auto Salvage and Speedy's Broken Mirror Bargain Store. During the 1940s he was involved in local radio and television broadcasting. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur. Survivors include his wife, Sadie Greenlee Swofford; two stepdaughters, Mrs., Reggie (Cathy) Fleming of Baton Rouge and Mrs. Danny (Mary) Friesner of Westlake; and five grandchildren.
