Williams Funeral Services for Esther Houston Williams, 96, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan 16, in University United Methodist Church. The Revs. Tom Howe and Henry Bowdon Jr. will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Blackjack Cemetery in Pitkin under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation is from 9 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Mrs. Williams died at 6:45 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, in her residence. A native of Reids, she was a graduate of Elizabeth High School. She attended Normal State College and graduated from McNeese Sate University. She was a retired teacher, teaching at Kinder Elementary for 32 years and Fairview School in Grant for one year. She was a member of the Louisiana Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of University United Methodist Church and its Stonerollers Sunday school class, the Suzannah Wesley Circle, prayer and Bible study groups and United Methodist Women. She was an honorary member of the Administrative Counsel. She was a past worthy matron of the Pine Grove Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Kinder and was a member of Ruth Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Lake Charles. Survivors include three sons, Monroe Edwin Williams of Vidor, Texas, Reginald Joseph Williams of Pitkin and Roger Clark Williams of Lake Charles; one daughter, Nelva Jean Williams Nassar-Jackson of Lake Charles; one brother, Henry Elbert Houston of Pitkin; two sisters, Myrtle Houston Golemon of Lake Charles and Vivian Houston Nevils of Kinder; 16 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
