She developed and nourished the love of genealogy in me and influenced my life in many ways. They were my self appointed grandparents. I could not have asked for better! Jan Craven Abbreviations: JC. Family files and personal knowledge of Jan Batte Craven. MRN. Mary Dee Richard Nicks was born and raised in Vinton. She and her mother, Totie Moreau Richard have contributed these notes. VHS. Vivian Hebert Swent read the cemetery and published a limited number of copies in 1966. Included in her work was the minutes of the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church that is on the cemetery grounds. I have found this book to be invaluable because some of the graves she recorded have been destroyed, or replaced. Also the records she had access to were not available to me. VLC. Valerie Lyons Cundy. Email: CWV. Civil War Veterans of Imperial Calcasieu Parish by the Southwest Louisiana Genealogical Society, Inc. RC. Randall Clark of Sulphur, LA. AGG. Anne Galloway Gill of Harvey, LA NL. Neal Lyons of Temple, TX Special thanks to Theresa Moore, caretaker of the cemetery for letting me have access to her records. I have been able to give information on unmarked graves that would other wise be lost. Her records are taken from Obituaries in the Lake Charles American Press. If anyone has information on any person buried in Big Woods, please contact me Jan Craven at. This cemetery reading was completed in May, 1997. I am still collecting genealogical data on the people buried here and will be updating the file periodically. Printed copies of this labor of love are available from me also.
