The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Eda Broussard a beautiful scripture was read by Mrs. Duke, taken from the 3rd Chapter and 6th verse. She also gave a very good reading in connection with the scripture. Mrs. Jewel Guin called the roll and gave the financial report. Minutes were read and approved. For an eye opener Mrs. Johnson turned the group's attention to Mrs. Duke's flower arrangement. Under new business the club planned to quilt a quilt for Mrs. Bertha Starling. Mrs. Clovis Johnson showed a film which was very interesting. At the November meeting new officers will be elected. Present were: Eda Broussard, Clovis Johnson, Pat Laird, Bertie Tarver, Annie Mae Girod, Jewel Guin, Earlene Russell, Jenelle Duke, Ethel Thomas, Irma Reitzell, Pearl Nethery and Gladys Duke. ___________________________________________________________________________ Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mixon were Monday business visitors Monday. ___________________________________________________________________________ Enjoying a gumbo dinner in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Thomas Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Turner, Jeff and Regina of Hearns Island, Mr. R. L. Newsom and Mrs. Dwayne Newsom of Richardson, Texas, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Thomas and Mrs. Kerry Keoan. ___________________________________________________________________________ Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mixon visited recently with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Tweedy of Fouke, Arkansas. While in Arkansas the Mixons visited with Mrs. Dorothy Mixon and sons. ___________________________________________________________________________ Recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. T. D. Whitten were Mrs. Ethel Barker and Mrs. Darlene Hatten of Olla and Mrs. Audrae Hendrix and Mrs. Rosalie Long. ___________________________________________________________________________ Mr. E. W. Robinson, Jr. of Lafayette and his brother, Mr. Buck Foster of Houston, Texas, spent last weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Dunn. While here they enjoyed squirrel hunting. ___________________________________________________________________________ Mrs. Charlie Wyant of Copenhagen visited with Mr. J. E. McDaniel and Mrs. Bertie Tarver Monday afternoon. ___________________________________________________________________________ Mrs. Florence Holsten of Alexandria spent Saturday with Mrs. Francis Hinton. While there she and Mrs. Hinton were business visitors in Grayson. ___________________________________________________________________________ Mrs. Joe Ann Adkins visited Mrs. Francis Hinton Saturday. ___________________________________________________________________________ Mr. Hence Newsom visited his sister, Mrs. Francis Hinton on Thursday. ___________________________________________________________________________ Mr. Dwayne Newsom and Mr. R. L. Newsom of Richardson, Texas, spent the weekend with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Thomas and went hunting Saturday. ___________________________________________________________________________ Mr. J. E. McDaniel and Mrs. Bertie Tarver attended the singing at Holum Sunday afternoon. The "Calvary Crusadors" of Bastrop were there and everyone enjoyed their singing as well as the group for Holum Baptist Church. ___________________________________________________________________________ Mrs. Tommy Cockerham, Mrs. Stella Snody and Emerick picked up Mrs. Audie Simon out from Olla and spent the day in Winnfield Saturday. ___________________________________________________________________________ The quilting group from Old Ward Six quilted a quilt for one of its groups in the home of Mrs. Stella Snody and Emerick. ___________________________________________________________________________ Mrs. Johnny Gore of West Monroe spent Wednesday with her aunt, Mrs. Bertie Tarver. ___________________________________________________________________________ Mr. and Mrs. Benny Hinton and family were dinner guests of Mrs. Francis Hinton Wednesday. ___________________________________________________________________________ Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Haddox of Bastrop, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Kinnison of Kentucky and Mrs. Romaline Kinnison visited Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Thomas Sunday afternoon.
