Western Newspaper Union News Service. Columbia. - Monroe Warner, farmer living eight miles from here, was shot and killed [by] Didimus Pool, a neighbor, as a result of a feud extending over several years. There were no eyewitnesses to the shooting and the only statement came from Poole [sic], who surrendered to the authorities. Pool states that, while armed with a shot-gun, he met Warner in the road. He said that Warner began abusing him and that he suggested that they get off their horses and fight it out. Pool said that he put down his gun, but that as he did so Warner reached toward his hip pocket as if to draw a gun. Pool said that he then picked up his shotgun and fired, killing Warner instantly.
