Barnett, 49, who passed away shortly after a heart attack around 2:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, were held the following day at Palestine Baptist Church in ward five with the Rev. Cline D. Ellis, pastor of the Columbia Baptist church in charge. Interment was made in the Palestine Baptist church (sic, cemetery) under the direction of the Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Mr. Barnett was born and reared in ward five, and later moved near Clarks where he was employed by the Louisiana Central Lumber company. At the time of his death he and his family were residing in one of the McHenry houses in the Heights. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dottie Barnett, who before her marriage was Miss Dottie Moore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D.C. Moore now residing in Columbia; three daughters: Evaline, Ollie Faye and Susan Elaine; two sons: Leo and David; two sisters: Mrs. Aza Lea and Mrs. Voncile Coates, both residing in California; two brothers: Bythel Barnett of ward five and Vinson Barnett of West Monroe. The late Browder B. Barnett of ward five was an uncle.
