Services were held Friday, January 11, at Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel on St. John Street with the Rev. Lea Joyner officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Her husband, W. O. Hixson, preceeded her by death ten years ago. Mrs. Hixson was born in Newton County, Miss., but spent most of her life in Caldwell Parish, Monroe, and West Monroe. She was a member of the Southside United Methodist Church in Monroe. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann McClain of Baton Rouge, and Betty Laird of West Monroe; one brother, Louis Grant of Grayson; two sister, Annie Bell Harrison of Columbia Heights, and Alice Bamburg of Springhill; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Charles Denham, James Knox, Shelby McManus, Jeff McClain, Elvrette McClain, and Butch Scott.
