Buckalew, age 65 of Kelly will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, January 2, 2005 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Olla with Rev. Bobby Cruse officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Harris Chapel Cemetery east of Olla. Mr. Buckalew was born in Kelly on April 16, 1939 to the union of Frank and Nettie Cruse Buckalew and died Thursday, December 30, 2004 at the Hardtner Medical Center in Urania. He was a retired Chief E 7 with the U.S. Navy having served for 21 years during the Korean Conflict. After retirement he owned and operated his own trucking company. Survivors include his daughter: Melaney Murphy and her husband: Rodney of Olla, his grandchildren: Matthew Murphy of Kelly and Candi Cain of Grayson, his great-grandson: Landon Cain of Grayson: his brothers: Raymond Buckalew and Billy Buckalew both of Kelly, his nephews: Marvin Buckalew and his wife: Penny of Kelly and Curtis Wayne Buckalew and his wife: Pat of Kelly, his niece: Susie Cox and her husband: Stewart of Tullos and a host of great-nieces. Pallbearers will be Cornell McDaniel, Ronnie Causey, Bobby McCartney, Robert Neal Welch, Billy Williams and Willard Duncan. Honorary pallbearers are Matthew Murphy, Virgil Stamper, Dewey Baum and Charles Mullin. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m and Sunday from 9 a.m. until time of services at Riser Funeral Home, Hwy 165, Olla, La.
